Android interface updates and new feature designs, developed alongside the iOS designer, the wider design team, and mobile developers.

At tawk.to, I was responsible for UI/UX design for the Android app: creating components, developing user flows, redesigning existing screens, and designing interfaces for new features.
I worked closely with the iOS designer throughout each feature's design process, coordinating the mobile experience while accommodating differences between platforms. This case study focuses on my Android contribution, selected modules, and the collaboration behind the work.
The Android and iOS apps had inconsistent UI patterns. Updating the mobile experience meant aligning components, flows, and screens as we each worked on our platform.
Some Android screens were outdated and needed redesigning, with usability and accessibility as priorities.
The company moved its focus to rapid AI integration, adding urgent feature work alongside planned updates while the design direction still had to stay consistent.
I was the Android designer in a team of three platform designers covering Android, iOS, and web, working alongside a design lead.
Components, user flows, screen redesigns, and new feature interfaces for Android.
Coordinated on every feature, from component creation through user flows and detailed screens.
Coordinated design decisions across platforms.
Illustrations and icons for the interface.
Clarified interactions, screen behavior, and design details throughout implementation.
The iOS designer and I coordinated each feature at three levels. I developed the Android designs within that shared direction while accounting for platform differences, which connected updates to existing screens with new feature work instead of treating each interface as a separate task.
Agreed building blocks, adapted for each platform.
The same sequence of steps within each flow.
Consistent presentation of information across screens.
These modules show my Android interface work within the wider collaborative process, extending from shared components into feature-specific flows and screens.

I designed the Android screens for the Contacts module, coordinating with the iOS designer on the relevant components, flows, and layouts so the mobile designs stayed aligned.
The flow shown: adding a contact from the list, choosing a country code, entering a number on the phone keypad, and returning to the list with the new contact in place.
For Direct Messages, I worked on the Android messaging interfaces, coordinating screen designs and interaction patterns with my iOS counterpart as part of our ongoing effort to keep the mobile experience consistent as it evolved.
I developed the Inbox designs in coordination with the iOS designer and worked with mobile developers during implementation.
The shift toward rapid AI integration changed the pace and priorities of the work. I responded to urgent feature requirements while continuing planned interface updates, and close coordination with the iOS designer and mobile developers mattered even more as designs and implementation moved forward.
The challenge was moving quickly while keeping new work connected to the wider mobile experience.
I worked closely with mobile developers as they implemented app changes and new features, clarifying intended interactions, screen behavior, and visual details.
Design work continued alongside implementation, which called for ongoing communication as questions came up and priorities changed.
My contribution covered Android components, user flows, screen redesigns, and new feature interfaces, developed with the iOS designer and the wider team. The experience reinforced coordinating across platforms throughout the design process, and challenged me to adapt to urgent product priorities while keeping the Android experience consistent.
